Apps for bands and their fans

One of the fastest growing music platforms on mobile

Build an app to sell music, sell out shows, directly engage with your audience and find new fans

We're huge music fans here at Monogram Digital, so when Adam Perry of rock bands A and Bloodhound Gang asked us if we'd be interested in working with him on his tech start-up BandApp we were really excited.

BandApp enables bands to instantly build mobile apps for iOS and Android that they can share with their fans. Fans open a band's app to keep up with the latest news, listen to and buy their music, find out about shows, view photos and even chat with other fans and the band themselves – as well as discover new music.

Key roles in technical planning and development

Playing a key role in BandApp's team, Monogram Digital helped plan and were responsible for the build of the customisable mobile app that is BandApp's core offering. We developed the supporting server side technologies that drive it too. After completion of the initial build phase we continued adding new features, including an offline mode that meant the app would work for festival goers with no mobile signal – even though this isn't a native app.

We implemented technologies that enable BandApp to rapidly respond to spikes in traffic

It was clear from the start that BandApp has exponential growth potential and we identified that server infrastructure would be crucial. We needed to be able to keep BandApp lean and cost effective, but able to expand to support many thousands of users and potential spikes in traffic too. We therefore implemented technologies that enable BandApp to spin up new servers as and when they're needed, in seconds – automatically.

Brilliant idea, extraordinary story

Over 10,000 bands have built BandApps. This number continues to grow and BandApps are opened many thousands of times a day. BandApp also powers the official Reading, Leeds and Latitude festival apps – providing information and planning functionality to thousands of festival goers.
